John T. Gordon

John Travis Gordon, 35, Marion, died from complications from a motorcycle accident on Sunday, May 18. 2008.  He was born on February 11, 1973 in Cheyenne, WY to John P.J. and Lois J. (Shaffer) Gordon of Marion.  John attended Marion Catholic High School for 3 years and then his senior year at Harding High School graduating in 1991.  He attended Wright State University in Dayton where he and Monica met and began dating. John was united in marriage to his wife, Monica K. Smith, who survives, on June 22, 1996.  John is currently a Criminal Court Bailiff for the Court of Common Pleas for Marion County Sheriff's Office.

He was an Eagle Scout from troop #50, also receiving his wood badge and Order of the Arrow.  Current assistant scout master troop # 26, member Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, and member or the F.O.P., Lodge #24, Trustee of Lodge, active with Friends of Scouting Campaign Fund.  John graduated from the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy and previously worked as a Police Officer in Upper Sandusky prior to beginning his Court Career. 
"A great joy in his life was his family and time spent with them."

John is also survived by his children, Aileen B. and Ian C. Gordon at home; parents, John and Lois Gordon; mother-in-law, Wanda L. Shroats and her fiancee Gary L. Chase, of Marion; grandmother, Marjorie Meyer of Bellefountain, Ohio; sister-in-law, Christa (James) Cloud of Marion; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

F.O.P. Service at 7:30pm
at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Home 
A Funeral Mass will be held on
Friday, May 23, 2008 at 12 Noon
at St. Mary Catholic Church
Father Michael Nimocks presiding
Burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery with full Law Enforcement Honors
